PSU is a publicly funded institution and as such, should reveal the compensation provided to it's employees.
I thought this was interesting reading even though I agree with Paterno; salaries should be no one's business. I mean what does it freakin' matter what anyone makes. I could care less. Seems like some reporter wants to make a name for herself. I wish Paterno would go to find out everyone's salary that is issued a press pass and post them in the press room or over the internet, but he has too much class for that.
Yes, I have a BIG problem with reporters that try to start some sh*t!
However, I will say Saban makes 4 million a year and is not worthy to carry Paterno's jock strap.

Who gives a [censored] about a coaches salary?
The article said PSU along with Pitt, Drexel, and one other are publicly associated schools, i.e. in PSU's case the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania only gives about 9% of its nearly 3 billion dollar a year operating budget.
That's the reason why they've been able to escape for so long not reporting paterno's salary. The loop hole they found was that Patero and his entire staff registered with the state retirement fund or something to that effect and that's how the judge found an in to allow the release.

Even though he is paid through the state, I believe that some things should be private and that includes a persons' salary. That includes Paterno or the fry cook at the buffet bar for the players at the pregame meal.
Besides, what benefit is it knowing what Paterno makes?
